about

BIMIFF (Brazil Independent Magazine and International Film Festival) is a competitive online film festival designed to provide filmmakers worldwide with a platform to showcase their projects and connect with a global network of independent artists.

Founded out of a deep passion for the moving image, the festival was established by filmmakers Lucas Marques, Vic Kings, and Marcelo César. While Marcelo César is no longer part of the current team, he holds a cherished place in our history and the legacy of our founding.

A New Identity and Magazine

Over the years, the festival has grown and expanded its mission. With the launch of our own publication, we updated our official name to the Brazil Independent Magazine and International Film Festival. This shift reflects our evolution into a comprehensive content and film criticism platform while maintaining the BIMIFF acronym—which has become a mark of prestige within the independent circuit.

Our Mission and Evaluation Process

As independent creators ourselves, our core goal is to discover and promote emerging global talent. BIMIFF serves as a high-profile showcase; the festival features a Professional Jury composed of Brazilian independent artists—including directors, actors, and producers—who evaluate and award the best films of each month across main, special, and individual categories.

Important Note

BIMIFF is an awards-based recognition festival; we do not host public screenings of the films. Our focus remains on curation, providing critical insight through our magazine, and honoring the standout achievements of the season.
